The Maxpedition JANUS Extension Pocket Black is a versatile modular pouch that adds storage while extending compatible 2-inch shoulder or waist straps. Featuring dual-sided functionality, PALS compatibility, and rugged 1000D ballistic nylon construction, it adapts to a wide range of everyday carry and tactical gear setups.
The Maxpedition JANUS Extension Pocket Black is designed to do more than simply carry small gear. Its innovative design allows it to function as an extension for compatible shoulder or waist straps while simultaneously providing additional storage, making it a practical upgrade for backpacks, sling bags, and load-bearing equipment.
The JANUS Extension Pocket installs between compatible 2-inch shoulder straps or waist straps using quick-release buckle components. This configuration adds convenient storage while increasing strap length for users who need additional adjustment. The extension strap can also be removed entirely, allowing the pouch to be used independently when desired.
For modular gear setups, the pouch can also be attached directly to compatible PALS webbing using a pair of long MALICE Clips (sold separately). The reversible design allows either side of the pouch to face outward, with the zipper opening oriented to either the left or right depending on user preference.
One side of the JANUS features a loop field for ID or morale patches, while the opposite side incorporates PALS webbing for attaching compatible modular accessories. Constructed from water- and abrasion-resistant 1000D ballistic nylon treated with Teflon fabric protector, the pouch is reinforced with high-tensile composite nylon thread, AS-100 closed-cell foam padding, heavy-duty #10 zippers, durable nylon webbing, and UTX-Duraflex buckles for dependable long-term performance.
The Maxpedition JANUS Extension Pocket Black offers exceptional versatility by combining modular storage with strap extension capability. Its adaptable mounting options and rugged construction make it an excellent addition to backpacks, sling bags, and modular load-bearing systems.
